There are few things that I hate more than spyware. There are even fewer things that I hate more than phony security applications that take advantage of me. Once the download was finished, I installed it and started the scan. While I waited, I played a game of minesweeper. I smiled when I finally won and about that time, the scan was complete. I looked at the results and received another surprise when Threat Nuker told me that my computer was infested with malware. It also told me that I needed to pay for the full version in order to have the threats removed. This seemed reasonable since that’s what a lot of legitimate programs do.
I followed the link to the purchase page. I was a little disappointed that they wanted me to pay nearly $50 to register the program, but I was desperate at that point. I didn’t want malware on my computer. However, after I paid for the program and installed it, I got my third surprise when I realized that it didn’t remove any threats at all. This time, I became quite angry.
